Traditionally, system integrators and developers had to extract fingerprint image from their reader, before using the image as input to the fingerprint SDK for biometric funtions. Calling vendor's proprietary image extraction functions added another layer of complexity and additional cost to the application development. The list of supported USB fingerprint readers includes:
U.are.U 4000B
Futronic FS80
Futronic FS82
CrossMatch V300 LC 2.0
UPEK TCRU1
UPEK TCRU2
M2SYS Reader
P5000
Innovatrics, in its on-going effort to facilitate the work for developers, has released IScanners - an add-on to IDKit and IDKit PRO SDK.
How it works
If you use one of the supported readers listed above, you simply need to install the reader's driver, plug the reader to your PC and call the functions of IScanners library to access the reader from your application.
If you use a different fingerprint reader, you may still extract the fingerprint image by using the vendor's fingerprint image acquisition API and then send the image to IDKit or IDKit PRO SDK.
Benefits
No hassle with vendors' proprietary image acquisition libraries.
Easy to use. Includes .NET support for VB or C# programming.
Unified interface to all supported scanners. The scanner you use does not suit you anymore? Change it without reprogramming your application.
Requirements
Operating System: Win32 (Windows XP, 2000)
Programming environment: C, C++, VB, C#
Available APIs: C/C++, .NET
Software Requirements: At least one SDK license of IDKit or IDKit PRO
